House Contents Insurance

Fire, flood, theft and other accidents can be financial disasters. If you are not properly insured, spend a few minutes totting up the cost of your home’s contents - you will be shocked at the value of your belongings.

Despite this some people still have no insurance to protect these items. Remember, we only insure the structure and fittings - not your belongings.

If a pipe or water tank leaks due to frost damage, we are not normally responsible for the damage to your belongings, and neither we nor our insurers will meet a claim from you.

We have made a special arrangement so that we can offer home contents insurance with the cost being added to your rent account so that you may pay for it weekly or fortnightly.

Whether you use our scheme or some other insurance scheme you are urged to take out some form of home contents insurance now.

Redundancy Insurance

Many people take out loans to improve their home or to make some other major purchase. Sometimes they find it difficult to keep up repayments if they find themselves unemployed.

It does not cost a lot to insure against the possibility of being made redundant when you take out a loan so please ask about this insurance and give yourself peace of mind.

Claims against the Company

You should not leave personal items where they may be removed by the refuse collectors, for example, in the dustbin store. We cannot be held responsible for these types of loss. If you find a leak or other defect which may damage your belongings you should take all steps to minimise the damage and contact us straight away; for example, you should remove items from the airing cupboard if the hot water storage tank is leaking, and lift carpets if a leak is likely to damage them.

If you feel that you have a claim against the company you should write to us stating what your claim is and why you feel we are responsible and you should give details of the damage caused and the value of your claim.

We will submit your claim to our insurers for a decision. We will not be able to comment on your claim until a decision has been given by our insurers.
