On the 1-2 August 2009, Pete Lewis, Andover’s very own Ironman, is competing in the Double Iron UK Triathlon in Lichfield to raise money for Testway Transform.

He’ll have 35 hours to swim 4.8 miles, cycle 224 miles and run two marathons, a whopping 52.4 miles!  Even for Pete, this is going to really push him to his physical and mental limit.

He got involved with Testway in 2006 when we launched our charity, Testway Transform.  He mentored Paula Deverill, the charity coordinator, as she challenged herself to get fit and lose weight.  She’s now three stone lighter and fit enough to run three miles.

As a professional trainer and coach, we also ask him to give our staff training courses on a number of things, like coaching and mind mapping.  He’s a familiar face around the office.

And he goes along to motivate the students taking part in their own Ironman-athon challenge at Harrow Way School during their training through the year and on the big day itself.

So look out for Pete out and about Andover over the coming months.  He’ll be wearing a white Testway Transform t-shirt so give him a wave and shout of support.

So far, Testway Transform has raised £56,000 and helped 53 local groups.  Pete said:  “Please help me raise as much money as possible and help Testway Transform in helping create better quality of life for people like you and me.”

You can sponsor him in a number of ways:

  • by donating money on his charity page:  Pete’s charity page

  • by texting the word TRANSFORM to 82540 from your mobile.  Calls cost £1.50 with 98p going to Testway Transform

Good luck Pete from everyone at Testway!
