For the fourth year in a row, Testway Transform, the charity arm of Testway Housing, entered a team of 15 brave souls into the Great South Run in Portsmouth.

In torrential rain, the fund raising runners ran the 10 mile road race with true grit and determination, all finishing the course.

One of the runners was Andover vicar, Reverend David Williams, who celebrated his 50th birthday pounding the pavements in the rain to raise money for Testway Transform.

After only taking up running in July this year, Rev Williams finished the race in a very respectable one hour 41 minutes.  He celebrated with a bottle of champagne and fish and chips.

Reverend Williams said: “Not many people get the chance to celebrate being half a century with over 20,000 people! He added: “As a church we're committed to transforming the lives of the people of this town for the better.  Testway Transform is really making a difference by helping community groups in the area.”

The rest of the Testway Transform team was made up of Testway staff, including the managing director Steve Benson and staff from the former DLO site in Andover.

Also, Testway board member and this year’s National Housing Federation's Best Neighbour winner, John Cockaday walked the course making friends along the route.

Paula Deverill, charity co-ordinator said: “I’d like to thank all the runners for their time and effort on what was a very wet day. The weather certainly didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits.”
